Before you start learning recipes for specific dishes, it is worth understanding some key features. In particular, pay attention to the issue of choosing the right apples for baking. These should be varieties with a good skin (dense), since it is she who will protect the pulp from spreading during heat treatment. Basically, experts advise buying autumn apples, including green varieties (Simirenko, Granny Smith) and some yellow ones (Golden). A few more points:

  • Remove the core very carefully: this can be done with a special cylindrical knife or a serrated one for vegetables, and the pulp is partially scraped out with a spoon. It is important to keep the thick walls and bottom, otherwise the apples will lose their shape when baked.
  • Select fruits of the same size, otherwise they will cook unevenly.
  • You can bake apples both whole (in the form of a glass) and cut in half, while the latter option will cook faster.

If desired, baked apples can be prepared with a filling: cottage cheese, berries, fruits, cereals (mainly rice), or they are simply sprinkled with spices - cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and also brown sugar.

It is advisable for kids to cook fruits without unnecessary additives, especially in the form of spices that can be allergic, so a baked apple for a children's menu is mainly with honey and butter. You can also add a little raisins or dried apricots here, mixed with a spoonful of sour cream, and used to decorate a ready-made dessert.

You can mix any fruits, dried fruits or berries with it, or simply combine it with egg white and sugar.
